This salsa is magic just with chips. But I have also mounded it atop grilled steak, dumped it onto tacos and spooned it ever so gently onto a nice piece of pan fried mahi. I imagine I would also swoon if it found it’s way onto a burger with bacon or with fried chicken or on a omelet. WHAT I AM TRYING TO SAY IS – it’s good on just about anything.
We thought you may need a mid-week dinner idea that will absolutely make your skirts fly up.
Last night I was deep into a Netflix binge and a neat Bourbon because: HORMONES. Bitchy little things, aren’t they? Anyway… moving along. Emily shot me a text of the dinner she whipped up for her brood and I immediately wished I was at HER house instead of wallowing in hormonal sorrow.
Emily makes this gorgeous little thing every year for her husband Ron’s birthday – which just so happens to be on July 4th! So of course his cake has to be patriotic and festive! When we posted a quick iPhone snap of it last over on Insta we had a million requests for a recipe!
Let’s chat for a minute, ok? We haven’t talked about this together yet and we need to just get it out of the way.
I’m vegan-ISH now. Heavy on the ish. And listen up – I know that die hard vegans want to throat punch me for being anything but whole hog vegan.
I can’t believe I just typed that.
Yes I can.
Sausage gravy is one of the best weekend breakfast splurges I could ever possibly think of! It’s comforting and rich and so dang southern you’ll develop the loveliest drawl even if you’re a born and bred northerner.
Biscuits and pie dough are therapeutic for me… the ritual of working dough calms my nerves and brings me back to center. It is a careful and thoughtful expression of love for the people that I am baking for – more than an intricately decorated cake – more than a 5-course dinner… this simple tradition of making the best biscuits for my people, there is nothing like it.
One of the things I love about this recipe is that these are so easy to make a big batch of and then freeze them! They make a super quick breakfast – just pull them out of the freezer, pop in the micro for a few seconds and then in the toaster! WHAAAAAT is this magic? The best homemade pancakes ready in just a few minutes whenever you feel like it? Yes indeed.
This is the perfect party food/grown-up lunch box miracle/beach day picnic/WHATEVER… (you get the idea)
Emily and I live in the best little beach town on the NC coast and shrimp are just glorious here! So we look for ways to celebrate them whenever we can. This shrimp salad is so so good and amazingly easy!
I can’t think of a better combination than chocolate and espresso. These rich, fudgy cookies have both and they are DIVINE. But we took it a step further and added raspberry buttercream on the top to celebrate the upcoming Valentine’s Day and WOAH NELLY are these not only beautiful, they are insanely delicious.
